Author Guidelines for the International Journal of Educational Leadership Practitioners (IJELP)
1. Scope and Aims
The International Journal of Educational Leadership Practitioners (IJELP) publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed research that advances theory, policy, and practice in educational leadership. The journal welcomes original contributions that provide innovative insights, empirical evidence, and practical applications for leadership across diverse educational contexts.
2. Submission Categories
Research Articles Empirical studies employing robust and appropriate methodological approaches.
Review Papers Critical and comprehensive syntheses of current research, theory, and emerging trends.
Case Studies In-depth analyses of specific educational leadership practices, interventions, or institutional experiences.
Commentaries and Opinions Scholarly perspectives and debates on contemporary issues in educational leadership.
3. Manuscript Preparation
Language: Manuscripts must be written in UK English.
File Format: Submissions must be in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
Font and Spacing:
Font: Arial, 12-point
Line spacing: 1.5
Margins: Standard (2.54 cm / 1 inch)
Length:
Research Articles & Review Papers: 5,000–8,000 words
Case Studies: 3,000–5,000 words
Commentaries/Opinions: Maximum 2,500 words
4. Manuscript Structure
Title Page Include title, author(s) name(s), institutional affiliation(s), corresponding author’s contact details, and acknowledgements.
Abstract A concise summary not exceeding 250 words.
Keywords Provide up to five keywords.
Main Text Research articles should typically include: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. (Section headings may be adapted as appropriate for other submission types.)
References Must follow APA 7th edition guidelines.
5. Tables and Figures
Place tables and figures within the text at appropriate points.
Formatting requirements:
Tables: single-spaced; no vertical lines, shading, or patterns
Use minimal formatting; gridlines should not be visible
Vertical alignment of cells should be centred
Captions:
Table titles: placed above the table
Figure captions: placed below the figure
Spacing: Leave two blank lines before and after each table or figure.
Source: Indicate the source below each table or figure where applicable.
All tables and figures must be referenced in the text before they appear.
6. Referencing Style
IJELP follows the APA 7th edition referencing style.
In-text citations: author-date format (e.g., Smith, 2020)
Reference list: alphabetical order by authors’ surnames
Ensure completeness and accuracy of all references
7. Ethical Considerations
Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.
Plagiarism: All submissions are screened for plagiarism.
Similarity index must be below 10%
Proper citation of all sources is required
Self-Plagiarism: Authors must clearly acknowledge any reuse of previously published work.
Conflicts of Interest: All potential conflicts must be disclosed.
Ethical Approval: Research involving human participants must include evidence of ethical approval.
